The purchase of a home property means making provisions of 10% or 11% for taxes and legal costs. In general, we can highlight these as follows:

V.A.T. (IVA)
Generally VAT is 7% on home property, however this can increase to 16% VAT depending on the type of contract signed; a house, a garage or business premises.

PROPERTY TAX
Generally this is 1% depending on the province where the property is located. In the case of second hand properties it is 7% (thus eliminating V.A.T)

LOCAL PROPERTY TAX ON APPRECIATION
This tax is low and depends on the age of the property, square metres and the area where it is situated. For new properties it is very low or non-existent.

NOTARY FEES AND PROPERTY REGISTRATION CHARGES
These are established according to the property cost.
